The Uganda National Roads Authority (UNRA) has received an award for Promoting the Rule of Law in the country. The award, a new quarterly initiative by the Uganda Law Society (ULS) was handed to the Executive Director Mrs. Allen C. Kagina by officials from ULS at UNRA Kyambogo Offices. Receiving the award, Mrs. Kagina thanked the ULS for recognizing the efforts the organization has made towards internal transformation and the improvement of the sector.

“I am delighted to receive this award on behalf of the UNRA team. As an organization, we have tried to put our best foot forward in the quest to transform the business in which we’re involved. It is fulfilling to be recognized for it. This gives us a new energy to continue to get better,” Kagina said. The award was presented to the ED by a team of officials from ULS led by Vice President Ms. Phiona Nabaasa Wall and the CEO Ms. Joyce Nalunga among others.

NOTE: The ULS Rule of Law Award is a quarterly award that recognizes individuals or institutions that have exhibited a commitment to upholding the rule of law in their day to day operations. The initiative, adopted last year as a proactive approach to dealing with rule of law issues, is a result of a quarterly report which is generated and widely circulated amongst stakeholders. The report also legal analyses of issues raised with specific recommendations to relevant state and non-state stakeholders to ensure complete adherence. It is in the last quarter, that UNRA was identified as the outstanding institution in observing the Rule of Law and an award to the effect given.
