The Directorate of Roads and Bridges Development headed by Eng. Samuel Muhoozi, (pictured) is responsible for the implementation of the national roads and bridges development programmes. The Directorate is composed of five departments namely; Roads Development, Roads Rehabilitation, Bridges and Structures Development, Land Acquisition and In-House Construction and Supervision
The mandate of the directorate is to develop and rehabilitate national roads and bridges in conformity with international environmental and social safeguards standards. It is also responsible for land acquisition / expropriation of land for right of way and management of the in-house Construction and Supervision Services.
The main objective of the Directorate is to implement the national roads and bridges development and rehabilitation programs taking into account road user safety and environmental sustainability.
